Kunsthalle München: Digital by Nature

The art of Miguel Chevalier from September 12, 2025 to March 1, 2026

With Digital by Nature, the Kunsthalle München presents Miguel Chevalier’s largest solo exhibition in Europe to date. The French artist has been considered a pioneer of digital art since the 1980s: he uses the computer as a creative medium and experiments with the latest technologies – including artificial intelligence. His works are always in dialogue with art and cultural history and combine digital innovation with an intense, real spatial experience.

Extensive exhibition

The exhibition features around 120 works from all phases of Chevalier’s career. Several works were created especially for the Kunsthalle München. Visitors can expect sculptures and drawings created using 3D printing and robotics, videos and installations in which algorithms continuously generate new images, and interactive spaces that respond to movement.

A special highlight

With In Vitro Pixel Flowers, adults and children alike can design their own virtual flowers – online and on site. These then bloom in a digital greenhouse in the middle of the exhibition space.

Nature meets digital technology

The show is complemented by natural history objects – from delicate crystals to photographs of fascinating underwater creatures. The result is a multi-layered experience that combines observation, participation, and wonder.

Opening hours of the Kunsthalle München
