Kunsthalle München CIVILIZATION: The Way We Live Now
Humanity in the Mirror of Photography:
Today, our world is facing a major upheaval: the world’s population is growing to unprecedented levels. Our influence on the planet is increasing rapidly and the networking between people worldwide is reaching new dimensions. The exhibition Civilization offers an in-depth visual examination of the traces we have left behind as a society. Through the work of over 100 renowned photographers, the different facets of our modern lives are illuminated – from groundbreaking successes to failures.
In view of its 40th anniversary, the Kunsthalle München is dedicating this exhibition to the question of how our civilization presents itself today. It sheds light on the contrasts and contradictions that characterize human coexistence. Through the photographs, visitors gain unique insights into life in urban centers, the impact of technological innovations, and the pressing global challenges such as climate change and social inequalities.
From 11.04.2025 to 24.08.2025, the exhibition in the Kunsthalle invites visitors to deal with the many dimensions of human existence. It’s a great opportunity to think not only about the past and present, but also about the future. It encourages us to critically question and reflect on our coexistence and the influence of humanity on the earth.
